Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life. — Confucius
Some people decide as children what they want to do with their lives and then set out to go do it. I am completely in awe of these people and long to be one of them. Instead I am now a statistic.
The Gallup poll on employee satisfaction says that 70% of American are not engaged at work. 70%!!! I should take comfort that I am not alone but instead it just makes me sad and mad. How is this possible when we all have so many options!
But I have struggled for a long time trying to figure out what my gift is. I understand the statistic. And now I am a parent.
What I would like more than anything in the world is to help my children discover what their contribution to the world is supposed to be and guiding them there. I’d love to prevent them from being a statistic and instead give them the gift of understanding their unique value so they can live a life of passion.
One problem: I have no idea how to do that!
With this blog I want to dedicate myself to figuring out the best ways to help my kids and, maybe along the way, I can help myself, too. And maybe, just maybe, I can embrace the thrill of not knowing how it’s all going to turn out.
